Attention aspiring high school communicators

Entries awarded first place will be submitted to the National Federation of Press Women contest. NMPW will pay the fee for those entries and will submit them for judging. The contest is endorsed by the National Association of Secondary School Principals. Dow Jones announces first-place winners and promotes the competition in its publication distributed to journalism advisers across the nation, giving students and their teachers/advisers local and nationwide recognition.
Any high school student in New Mexico may enter work printed or broadcast between March 1, 2013 and February 28, 2014. Entry fees are $3 for each item.

Dear NMPW members,
An opportunity has presented itself for one or more of our members to help make an important project happen this year. Unfortunately, Chris Burroughs will not be able to serve as our High School Communications Contest Chair this year after all. Therefore, we need one or more people who are willing to jump in right now to make this contest happen this year. The contest has moved online as did our regular communications contest, so someone who is comfortable with using a computer would be an asset. The entry deadline is March 10, so if we are gong to offer this opportunity in 2014, we’ll have to get a volunteer(s) and move quickly.
