NMPW Board Officers

    Regina Griego

    President

    Dr. Regina Griego is an award-winning author, coach, speaker, and a retired engineer from Albuquerque, NM where she was born. Regina wrote Sins of the System, Transcending-Futures.com. She is the President for New Mexico Press Women, the Survivor Membership Lead for New Mexico Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense, an International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) Fellow, and on the Board of the INCOSE Foundation.

      Léonie Rosenstiel

      Vice President

      As writer, editor, producer, and collaborator, Léonie Rosenstiel created award-winning fiction and nonfiction. SWW’s PR Chair since 2019, Leonie was also its vice president (2022-23). Since 2019, she has been NMPW’s PR Director. She was unanimously elected as vice-president in 2020, and again in 2022. Her book Protecting Mama has won 18 literary awards, including a First Place for Memoir in the International Impact Book Awards, against a field of 200 competitors. She was named NMPW’s Communicator of Achievement in 2023.

      Susan Walton

      Secretary

      Susan Walton, part-time activity coordinator at Sandia Prep School, was a beat reporter on a daily, Albuquerque’s PIO and a fundraiser. A past NM Communicator of Achievement, Susan served on boards like NM Foundation for Open Government and Albuquerque Press Women. She is the treasurer of St John’s Thrift Shop.

        Linda Lockett

        Treasurer | Albuquerque Press Women Steering Committee Representative

        Linda Lockett, APR has worked in public relations and advertising for 30+ years. Linda also taught journalism and English and was a reporter for a semi-weekly newspaper in Texas. She earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism and English, an MBA and two additional master’s degrees. Native of El Paso, Linda now lives in Placitas, NM.

          Arianna Andreatta

          Historian

          Arianna Andreatta is a videographer interested in identifying individuals’ unique perspectives by listening closely to their stories. Arianna enjoys the personable aspect of bringing clarity and confidence to her clients with gentle coaching and collaboration. Her 10 year career in video production has allowed her to communicate to specific audiences in order to connect, build empathy and spark a change in thinking.

          Catherine Lynch

          Communication Contests Co-Chair

          Catherine Lynch serves in Communications, Media and Data Analysis for the First Judicial District Attorney in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Catherine has worked in various aspects of the film production and creative industries, applying her skills of storytelling such as teaching, coaching, directing, casting, marketing, public relations, video editing and design. Known for her innovative approach and leadership skills, her diverse experience ranges from small independent projects to large-scale commercial productions.

          Carolyn Carlson

          Communication Contests Co-Chair

          Carolyn Carlson is an award-winning journalist covering local government for over 30 years in Central New Mexico. Carolyn is the former owner/publisher of The Estancia Valley/Torrance County Citizen, and a veteran of the Albuquerque Journal, Weekly Alibi, The Paper and City Desk ABQ. She served as past NMPW Communications Contest Chair for seven years.

            Margaret Cheasebro

            High School Contest Coordinator

            Margaret Cheasebro is a long-time member of New Mexico Press Women. Margaret was their historian and now is High School Communications Contest coordinator. She has won many awards in NMPW and NFPW communications contests. A retired educator and journalist, she is now an author and alternative health care provider. She has 10 published books. Thousands of her newspaper and magazine articles have been published as well as some puzzles, short stories and plays.

            Dede Feldman

            Zia Award Chair

            Dede Feldman is a Zia Award Winner. The first woman elected as a New Mexico senator from Albuquerque’s near North Valley, and the author of three books about politics and change in New Mexico, Dede has been a pioneer for women in government. She has a long history of promoting campaign finance reform, improved health insurance in New Mexico, and election reform.

            Brandon Larrañaga

            Scholarship Chair

            Brandon Larrañaga is a graduate student at Texas Tech University, finishing his master’s degree in agricultural communications. He graduated from NMSU in 2023 with bachelor’s degrees in agricultural communications and journalism and media with an emphasis in strategic communications. A native of Las Vegas, NM, Brandon was a recipient of the Doris Gregory Memorial Scholarship in 2022, and has served as NMPW’s scholarship chair since.

            Astrid Winegar

            Website Chair

            Astrid Tuttle Winegar is an award-winning author of three cookbooks in the Cooking for Halflings & Monsters series. Astrid has worked as a dressmaker, a Latin teacher, and a volunteer with the public school system in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she currently resides. She holds a B.S. in English and an M.S. in Comparative Literature and Cultural Studies from UNM.

            Kathleen Economy

            Newsletter Chair

            Kathy Economy has volunteered as a newsletter writer since the mid-1970s and wrote technical reports for the EPA in Washington, DC. Kathy was a cofounder and newsletter writer of the Socorro Cooperative Nursery School and contributed to the Tango Dancing newsletter. After retiring, she volunteered for her neighborhood association and political party including writing newsletters, developing, and updating websites for both groups.

            Denise Chavez

            SNMPW Member at Large

            Denise Chavez is a Chicana author, bookseller, and activist from southern New Mexico. Denise writes about families in New Mexico and the U.S. Border. She has received various awards, including the New Mexico Governor’s Award, The American Book Award, the Premio Aztlán Literary Prize, and the Hispanic Heritage Award in Literature, among others.
