ABQ Free Press is devoted to analysis, interpretation and explanatory journalism on topics affecting the lives of people in Albuquerque and across New Mexico. A significant portion of our effort is devoted to uncovering what the state’s other media overlook.
The Albuquerque Journal is the largest newspaper in the U.S. state of New Mexico. It is New Mexico’s leading news source delivered in print, online and on mobile apps 365 days a year.

The News was first published on Nov. 20, 2016. It is the merging and continuation of the Clovis News Journal and Portales News-Tribune and their proceeding publications. It continues to maintain its main office in Clovis.
Covering local news, sports, business, jobs, and community events, published six days a week – Monday through Saturday. Its motto is “The Truth Well Told”. Covers Gallup and the surrounding communities of McKinley County.
Published Tuesday through Sunday in featuring news, sports, and features of interest to readers in Lea County. The News-Sun was the result of a merger between two of the many local newspapers that appeared in Hobbs in the 1930s, following the region’s oil boom at that time.

The Quay County Sun, The Eastern New Mexico News, My Eastern New Mexico PLUS and Cannon Connections are owned by Clovis Media Inc. The company, which purchased the papers in January 2012 from a group previously known as Freedom Newspapers of New Mexico, has offices in Clovis, Portales and Tucumcari.
The Rio Grande Sun is a weekly newspaper located in Española. In 2012, the newspaper was the focus of a documentary film titled The Sun Never Sets, produced and directed by Ben Daitz and narrated by Bob Edwards.
The Roswell Daily Record is a local newspaper with a circulation of less than 25,000. The paper is well known in the UFO community because it was the newspaper that reported in 1947 the alleged Roswell UFO crash.
The Santa Fe New Mexican or simply The New Mexican is a daily newspaper published in Santa Fe. Dubbed “the West’s oldest newspaper,” its first issue was printed on November 28, 1849.
The purpose of the Taos News is to report the news of Taos County and the Moreno Valley in a fair and objective manner consistent with the highest journalist standards. Its intention is to serve the citizens of Taos County by taking specific positions on important issues and allowing reasonable space to those with differing views.
Defunct Sites
New Mexico Mercury (2013-2015)
New Mexico Mercury was an independent daily digest of statewide news, views, original analysis, poetry and deep dive pieces. The publication ran from 2013 through 2015 and published over 200 New Mexico writers, scholars, journalists and poets. The publication also produced a weekly video interview series called Insight New Mexico. It was founded by V.B. Price and Benito Aragon.
